Emily Smith: “A lot of times, people have this assumption that they’re supposed to feel empowered, and they are not, so the word ’empower’ is a really powerful word.”

She has written and spoken on a wide range of topics, including feminism, health, and parenting.
She was awarded the National Book Award in 2016 and the National Medal of Arts in 2016 for her work as a columnist for The Lad, and her other books include the book The Life and Times of a Woman.
